Self-publishing ebooks
These days it’s very easy, and affordable, to self-publish in an ebook format and distribute your ebook through retailers like Amazon and Barnes & Noble. There are four parts to the process:
- Create the cover image, ebook file and a metadata document
- Make a decision about DRM
- Sign up with one or more distributors
- Market your book like crazy.
If the quality of your book is as good as most, marketing savvy and effort is what determines financial success. The rest is easy.
In this section of our knowledge base, we’ll provide some pointers in each of these four areas.

I am getting ready to publish an eBook novel and I want to embed music into it so people can hear song samples and then have an option to buy a download of the song. Can you help me with that?
Bud, I’m afraid EBW can’t help with that right now, our team is fully engaged in other projects. I’m assuming you’d like to outsource this. Have a look at this page at Aptara (one of the world’s biggest ebook production companies), then you can try Googling around some of the key phrases to find other suppliers who offer similar services, if you want to get competitive quotes. http://www.aptaracorp.com/ebook-production/enhanced-ebooks/

Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to
your blog? My website is in the very same area of interest as yours and
my users would really benefit from some of the information
you present here. Please let me know if this alright with you.
Many thanks!
That’s fine, Nandish. What you suggest follows the terms of our Creative Commons licence (see sidebar for CC licence details).
